Basic  Bible Principles

This page is designed to help you have a strong foundation in your Christian faith, if you will thoroughly study, memorize, and even teach these classes, you will be a powerful Christian soldier for Jesus Christ. God will be able to mightily use you during the end time events, which are even now beginning to unfold. When the Storms come, your foundation will be on the rock, and not on the sand. “And the things which thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” (2Timothy 2:2)

Part 1 - Salvation

“Simple Salvation”

Salvation is simple and free; all you have to do is accept Jesus Christ as your master and savior, by asking Him to forgive you of your sins, and believing in your heart that God has raised him from the dead. These are a few scriptures that prove this:

John 3:3-8   Romans 6:23
John 3:36   Romans 10:9-10
John 14:6   Galatians 4:6
John 3:16-17   Ephesians 2:8-9
Romans 3:23   Revelation 3:20

(More on this subject in Section 9 “memory scriptures-salvation.”)

“Eternal Salvation”

Once you have received Jesus Christ into your heart and have been born again, it is important, and comforting to know that you cannot loose your salvation. Here are some verses that establish this fact:

Ecclesiastes 3:14 John 10:27-31 Philippians 1:6
Jeremiah 3:14 Romans 8:38-39 Hebrews 12:5-6
Psalms 89:30-34 Hebrews 6:4-6 Hebrews 13:5

(More on this subject in Section 9 “memory scriptures-salvation.”)

GRACE:  Gift Received At Christ’s Expense

Here is a good prayer to lead someone to salvation:

Dear JESUS CHRIST,

Please forgive me of my sins and come into my heart and life. I believe You are the son of God, that you died on the cross because of my sins, and rose from the dead. Please fill me with your Holy Spirit, and help me to live for you. Amen.

Part 2 - The Holy Spirit

The main purpose of the Holy Ghost is to give you power to be a witness to others for Jesus. This is why we need the Holy Spirit, and this is how we receive Him according to the Bible:

                             John 7:38-39, John 16:13-16, Luke 11:10-13,

                             Acts 1:8, Acts 2:17-18, Acts 4:31b, Acts 5:32

The more you follow Jesus, the more anointing of the Holy Ghost you will receive.

Part 3 - Prayer and Faith

This is a good guideline for when you are praying:

J.O.Y. = Jesus Others You

First, Begin with a clean heart: Psalms 51:10-17, Psalms 66:18-20, Proverbs 8:13-17, Jeremiah 29:13, Matthew Chapter 5, Matthew 6:5-15, James 4:8, 1 John 1:9

Next, Thank and praise the Lord: Psalms 34:1, 1Thessalonians 5:17-19

Pray for others first: 1John 3:16

Pray for your own needs last, and have faith: 1John 5:14, 1John 3:22, James 1:5-7, Mark 11:24, Matthew 9:23, Romans 10:17, Philippians 4:13, Philippians 4:19

Listen to the Lord after prayer: Psalms 46:10, Isaiah 30:7b

Be patient, God always answers prayer with “yes,” “no,” or “wait”: Isaiah 40:31, James 1:4

Part 4 - Healing

God can heal your body, along with your spirit, and He wants to use you to heal others also. He has given you authority, and prayer power!

Exodus 15:26, Psalms 103:3, Isaiah 53:5b,

Jeremiah 32:27, Matthew 10:7-8, Matthew 18:19,

Mark 16:17-18, Luke 17:14b, James 5:14-15

Part 5 - Basic  Bible  Knowledge

The Old Testament was originally written in Hebrew, the New Testament was originally written in Greek. Forty prophets and men of God wrote the Bible over a 1600-year period, inspired by the Holy Spirit. There are sixty-six books in the Bible, thirty-nine in the Old Testament, and twenty-seven in the New Testament. The Old Testament was first translated into Greek in 250B.C. under reign of King Pheladelphus of Greece, it was called the Septuagint, this is an established historical face taught in all colleges and universities. The New Testament was translated into English in the year 1611 under the reign of King James of England; who commissioned seventy scholars of the scriptures who took ten years to accomplish this great undertaking. They were extremely careful not to make any mistakes, because it was during a time when heretics were burned at the stake.

We use the King James Version of the Bible because:

1.     It has with stood the test of time (for hundreds of years it has been found without error or contradiction, neither does it contradict the original manuscripts).

2.     It was and is the originally inspired Word of God first translated into English.

3.     It was translated into the most beautiful form of the English language during a time when English was at its most perfect state.

4.     It is the most identical to the original scriptures, as is proven by the Dead Sea Scrolls, which were copies of the Old Testament found in caves near the Dead Sea in 1947.

Even the parchments, which the scrolls were written on, were scientifically proven to be hundreds of years before Christ. Proving the Scriptures have not been changed. The Dead Sea Scrolls are said to be supernaturally identical to the King James Bible.

God would not leave his children in the dark; He has preserved His word for us to light our paths in these latter days.

The Bible is our guide, our standard of measurement by which we judge all things, especially the revelations people receive today. Read these verses: Isaiah 8:20, Galatians 4:6, 2Timothy 2:15

You cannot believe in the Bible and evolution. The Bible clearly shows that the age of the earth is less than 7,000 years old.

(See the “Age of the Earth” chart for more details.)

If evolution were true we would be up to our knees in missing links, and there has never been one found. All have proven to be fakes. God made man in His own image, just as it says in the book of Genesis. It is important for you to know and understand some of these basic Bible and world history facts:

·        Abraham begat Isaac, and Isaac begat Jacob, who had twelve sons and they settled in the land of Goshen (Egypt). Those twelve sons began the twelve tribes of Israel (Genesis 17:19, 25:26, 29:29-35, 30:1-24).

·        Abraham also had Ishmael, the father of the Arabs through Hagar (Genesis chapter 16).

To understand the Bible and history, it is important to know that there are six major empires which have ruled the known world of their time. And even one more “one world empire” that is still to come.

1.     Egypt: (2100 BC) to (1491BC)
2.     Assyria: (1000 BC) to (606 BC)
3.     Babylon: (606 BC) to (538 BC)
4.     Mede-Persia: (538 BC) to (333 BC)
5.     Greece: (333 BC) to (44 BC)
6.     Rome: (44 BC) to (476 AD)
7.     The Anti-Christ’s world empire: Soon to arise.

·        The Jews, Jerusalem and the first temple were conquered and destroyed be Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon in 586 BC.

·        In 453 BC the commandment was given to restore and rebuild Jerusalem by Artaxerxes of Persia (Nehemiah 2:1-8).

·        The 2nd temple was destroyed in 70 AD by Rome under Titus the Roman general after Jesus was crucified in 30 AD.

·        The third and final temple will soon be built, then the last years of the Anti-Christ’s reign.

(See the “Last Seven Years” chart for more details.)

The first books, Genesis through Deuteronomy is called the “Torah” or the “Law,” given to Moses and written down by him.

The Old Testament is the New Testament concealed, and the New Testament is the Old Testament revealed. The Bible is like a mysterious puzzle book that all fits together through prophecy from Genesis through Revelation. It’s God’s gift to you, and He’s waiting to see how curious and spiritually hungry you are to search out these mysteries and pit the puzzle together, to find Him and His truths. The Bible is a wonderful living book of God’s word. You can learn something new each time you read and study it. God will speak to you through His word. There are hundreds of prophecies in the old testament, proving Jesus is the Messiah, the Christ, and the Savior of the world. STUDY (Isaiah chapter 53)!

Recommended Reading: Haley’s Bible Handbook is a very good book for Historical information; however some of the prophetic interpretations need to be revised.

Part 6 - Endtime Events to Look For

1.     The signing of a covenant or agreement to allow the Jews in Jerusalem to rebuild Solomon’s temple and start up their daily animal sacrifices like they did in the Old Testament. It will be the Anti-Christ confirming this covenant, and this begins the last seven years (2,520 days, or 84 months), before Jesus appears and those who put their faith in Him are taken to heaven (Daniel 9:27, 1Thessalonians 4:16-17).

2.     3 ½ years later the Anti-Christ places the abomination of desolation in the temple, proclaims himself the Messiah, and forces everyone to receive the mark of the Beast in their hand or forehead. This begins the great tribulation (Daniel 11, Mark 24:15-21, Revelation chapters 7-14)

3.     Jesus appears exactly 1,260 days later, and all the believers are taken to heaven for the marriage supper of the Lamb. While on earth, the wrath of God is poured out on the Anti-Christ and his followers (Daniel 12:11, 1Corinthians 15:52, 1Thessalonians 4:16-17, Revelation 17:18, Revelation 19).

4.     The Battle of Armageddon begins. Jesus and His followers return to take over the world seventy-five days after the rapture (Daniel 12:11-12, Revelation 19).

5.     The Anti-Christ and his false prophets are cast into the Lake of Fire and the Devil is bound and chained for 1,000 years           (Revelation 20:1-3).

6.     The 1,000 year reign of Christ on the earth begins (Isaiah 11, Revelation 20:6).

7.     The devil is loosed out of the bottomless pit after 1,000 years, and goes out to deceive the people of the world who have not submitted to the Lord. This time God rains down fire and brimstone on them and destroys the world (Revelation 20: 7-9).

8.     Then, the great white throne judgment takes place, where all who were not saved are resurrected and judged by their works (Revelation 20:11-15).

9.     God remakes the surface of the earth more beautiful than ever, and the heavenly city descends upon the earth. 1,500 miles high, wide, and long. Where God and Jesus live and rule all creation, and from where all His children will live with them for all eternity (Revelation chapters 21-22).

Memory Verses

If you really want to make some major spiritual advancement, memorize these verses to help strengthen your faith and see you through the days ahead.

Some people think they can't memorize scriptures easily.  But that is simply not true.  Just start by trying to memorize one verse and keep repeating it.  After you have memorized one Bible verse, you'll see that it gets easier as you go. And remember, REPETITION is the law of memory!
