Why we use the

King James Version

Forty prophets and men of God wrote the Bible over a 1600-year period, inspired by the Holy Spirit. There are sixty-six books in the Bible- thirty-nine in the Old Testament and twenty-seven in the New Testament.

The Old Testament was originally written in Hebrew. In 250 B.C. the Torah, which is the first 5 books, was translated into Greek under reign of King Ptolemy II Philadelphus of Greece. This is called the Septuagint and it was for the Alexandrian Jews who spoke more Greek than Hebrew. Several historians including Josephus record the following account-

“King Ptolemy once gathered 72 Elders. He placed them in 72 chambers, each of them in a separate one, without revealing to them why they were summoned. He entered each one's room and said: ‘Write for me the Torah of Moshe, your teacher’. God put it in the heart of each one to translate identically as all the others did.”

Next, let’s turn to the New Testament. It also was written in Greek, which was still the dominant language of the Eastern Mediterranean. The majority of the Jewish people spoke Greek and were not familiar with the Aramaic language.

And now we come to the year 1604, when King James commissioned 47 of England’s foremost scholars of the old and new testament scriptures to translate them into English. It took them seven years. And in the year 1611 their work was published.

Because this ministry wants to be “all on the same page” we use the King James Version of the Bible (see more).

This ministry uses the King James Version of the Bible because:

1.     It has with stood the test of time (for hundreds of years it has been found without error or contradiction, neither does it contradict the original manuscripts).

2.     It is the most identical to the original scriptures, as is proven by the Dead Sea Scrolls, which were copies of the Old Testament found in caves near the Dead Sea in 1947.

3.     As evidenced by “The Translators to the Reader” the translators of the KJV were aware that there were “some imperfections and blemishes” in their new Bible but they deeply believed that scripture was God’s word and they absolutely strove to honored its power and authority.

2 Timothy 2:15

Study to shew thyself approved unto God,

a workman that needeth not to be ashamed,

rightly dividing the word of truth.
